I miss my HP 50g. It was the best calculator model in existence. Mine was stolen back when I was in university.

I know that feeling. I sold my HP 48SX at the end of high school. I want so badly to buy the exact same model one of these days. We were already programming in Lisp (Polish Reverse) but we didn't know yet.
At least, I have managed to keep my father's slide rule and my "japanese school supply" soroban, but where's my Saturn processor? They will never make calculators again, only computers with Saturn emulators.

The best part of being a HP aristocrat was bullying the TI peasants with our superior grades in maths.

I'm considering getting an HP 35s even though I don't need it, just so that I can have an honest-to-god RPN calc on my desk.

8 名無しさん 2020-05-30 11:50

Wasn't there a russian RPN calculator that was so programmable, someone managed to redirect railroads using it?

9 名無しさん 2020-05-30 13:20

Fuck it, I ordered an HP 35s and a copy of SICP just now.

Elektronika MK-52 and its previous model MK-61 (the models were arbitrarily named). I hear they're wonderful. You can still buy them second-hand for cheap from ex-USSR states.

PS: Look up yeggogology.

You'll be sorry when shit hit the fan if you haven't bought a Curta.

Curta is super cool but the last one was produced half a century ago and second-hand ones go for $500-1000. You can, however, 3D print one yourself! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1943171

That was the right thing to do.
